Politics turned sour – economy stinks
Knowing what is important
Reading the news about politics and the economy, we often think about the times when political parties and especially socialism could defend themselves against the often inhuman capitalism. The “magical” globalization has reduced the political parties’ resistance to almost nothing.
The media regularly report that prices are going up because of speculation. There is very often no real reason for the price increase as production can meet demand.
Once again, politicians are powerless to act against this form of inhuman and voracious capitalism.
Thanks to modern means of communication and global investment companies, “we are big, man, we have 66 financial executives” and similar utterances have become often heard phrases in the business world. Whether the workers on the shop floor are satisfied or not seems to have become a trivial detail. Layoffs and redundancies are “collateral damage” that are part of the deal. Financial executives do not seem to bother about it (much).
It all goes to prove that politics as a whole is in for a thorough revision. There is an urgent need for solidarity. Politics needs to be people-centred.
Workers are increasingly complaining about their working environment and work load. “People do not count” and “humanity has gone” are often heard complaints. It is time the pendulum swung in the other direction again. Time for a healthy equilibrium.
“We are big, man, we have 66 financial executives” is definitely not the right formula. Unless you are one of the executives or speculators. They decide or rule and will tell us it is positively the right formula.
When are politicians going to stand up for people again and for humanity? When are they going to react to the economic lordships? A lot of economists still seem to be in diapers or nappies as far as the new economic mentality is concerned. As well as all those following their heartless theories. It is time for politics and economics to change their views and to grow with fresh vigour into a well-balanced system of humanity and solidarity. A system that excludes no one. It is time they realize that life is more than blunt materialism and appearances. It is time they realized that the inner human being is the essence. This has nothing to do with religion. Every human being is much more than an untrained eye or science can see.
It is also time they started to treat Nature as a partner.
The present system is turning sour, as is our entire society. When you look at all the “trash” (the words of quite a few critics) shown on TV, it becomes clear why many of our youth and many adults do no longer have the right values needed to sustain a healthy society.
Who still has a politician or an idealist as their idol? Is there none to be looked up to?
When you look at the world with the eyes of humanity, it is often definitely sickening.
We at Danellandia had enough of it all and we tortured our brain to try and look for (the start of) a solution: a project to boost humanity or human values all over the world. A project to build a world of solidarity.
We threw out the ballast, because on our ship no time can be wasted on futile banalities. Figuratively, Humanity is aboard a ship that is in for some heavy storms. Therefore, we concentrated all our attention on the problems facing people, Nature and society. All hands on deck!
Anybody can see that things are not going as they should in this world: people are getting ill, mentally and physically. They lose direction. Some commit suicide. Others commit violence or even murders. Nature is being upset and shows signs of exhaustion and resistance.
Our society is ill because it has lost its role as the social environment where people share happiness and sorrow. It is becoming too competitive. It plays rough with people’s feelings and dignity. It wants people to perform at their peak always and to consume endlessly and ever more.
Our society has lost direction too. And our leaders cannot see the forest for the trees. They do not know where to head to and are wasting a lot of precious time on resolving futile banalities.
Danellandia wanted to do something about it and sets out a common project for peace and human values. It wants to build a better and more just world. It wants to introduce a beacon to serve as a guideline for society and people.
Politics and economics have to restore the harmony between people and between people and Nature. To restore solidarity.
The Golden Calf (the symbol of money) has to be tamed and the stable has to be cleaned up thoroughly. It is absurd to earn money based on air and rumours. Especially when defenceless people are the direct victims.
“Healthy people on a healthy planet” should be the goal of politics and economics. Healthy both mentally and physically.
“Putting pressure on people to do things not in tune with their principles”. It is mentioned in Lea’s poem. Who puts pressure on our society and who has the right to do so? Do they have superior intelligence? If they think they have, they definitely do not have the same definition of intelligence as we have.
As mentioned in Lea’s poem, a lot of things need to be corrected in this world. One would think we are very pessimistic. We are not. We are hopeful that this world can change for the better. We have made special building blocks to influence value patterns and to change mentality. Respect for people and for Nature should be the foundation.
Man and woman should be worth their weight in gold again. Man and woman should be at the centre again and not the Golden Calf. The Calf is so rotten inside that it produces foul gases that risks making life for the entire world impossible. Man and woman should be able to breathe fresh air again and enjoy life instead of being enslaved to the Calf and its masters.
The Calf’s stench has become unbearable. A lot has become a mess in this world and it is time Humanity realized the mess needs to be cleaned up. It will take politicians, economists and businessmen of another kind to make it happen. They will need a vision based primarily on humanity and not on money.
“Amigos en tiempos de alegría, amigos en tiempos de tristeza” (“friends in happiness, friends in sadness”). Maybe one day, it will be that way. A world of solidarity, where everybody feels good and where nobody feels the need to abuse or deceive anyone to make it. Besides, success also needs a new definition.
