In God we trust
Some coins carry the words “in God we trust”.
Yet, the world money is helping to create, seems to be a far cry from the world God is supposed to be wanting.
Some years ago, on some of the one-dollar coins the usual wording “in God we trust” was missing. The printer just forgot it.
It might be a coincidence. It might not. But do people trust in God or do they trust in the money?
Do they not understand the language of money better than the language of God?
God is supposed to stand for real values, like justice, honesty and peace.
To many people money seems to be the new god. They would do just anything for it. Even abandon the values that God is considered to represent. Or even worse and kill.
Why was “in God we trust” ever written on money?
Making (lots of) money seems to be an aim in itself now. It should be a means to create a fair and caring society.
So, maybe for the time being and until more care is taken, would it not be better to leave it off the coins altogether?
