LETTERS : NEW TO OLD

Letter to all our friends

Letter to all our friends

Life can be tough on us and the people around us. Who is to blame? We ourselves or others? Or society, politics and economics? We are influenced by so many factors and actors and social media make it easier to influence us – most often with commercial and political objectives. Knowing what really matters in life can help you to reduce the negative influences affecting your life and give you more breathing space.
IMF - immature materialistic fiasco

IMF – immature materialistic fiasco

Excessive materialism is bringing our world and Earth to the brink of collapse. We need a new kind of leaders and institutions urgently. Human beings do need material things to organize their lives. But do they really need all that much? Do they really need to buy new things only to buy yet other new things shortly after?
Basta! Capitalism is too enslaving

Basta! Capitalism is too enslaving

Consumers are complaining about rising prices. Some foodstuffs cost ever more. Fuel prices are soaring. Health care becomes more expensive… Many producers are also complaining. Often they get minimum prices for their products or raw materials. Especially in less developed countries. Why are prices going up? Why are producers paid little for their produce? Who is behind this unfair economic system?
Leaders in 2020 - make it or break it

Leaders in 2020 – make it or break it

Humanity has indeed made tremendous advancements, but too much confidence has been put on the self-regulating capacity of the free market. The market is free only for part of the players. We need a new type of leaders with a global vision. Leaders that unite instead of divide. Leaders that lead and do not mislead.
Free market: anything but free

Free market: anything but free

Most economists and politicians still believe the free market economy is the best system around. Yet, the free market is anything but free. Freedom means that we can live our own individuality while respecting other human beings and Nature. The present free market does not show enough respect. Many people are the victims of the whimsical selfishness and greed of those having economic power over them.
Seeing the invisible - also in politics

Seeing the invisible – also in politics

Engineers are reportedly developing a new type of camera with an extraordinary amount of pixels and based on the so-called cosmic reflection. It would not only allow us to photograph the visible but also the invisible.
Hatred breeds hatred and ruins life

Hatred breeds hatred and ruins life

There is so much hatred in this world. For small and big reasons. For reasons related to race, culture, politics, economics, religion… Hatred is often based on misunderstanding or on prejudices. Hatred is often directed towards people that are not really known. Just being part of a particular group can make you the victim of hatred.
Politics turned sour - economy stinks

Politics turned sour – economy stinks

Reading the news about politics and the economy, we often think about the times when political parties and especially socialism could defend themselves against the often inhuman capitalism. The “magical” globalization has reduced resistance to almost nothing. The media regularly report that prices are going up because of speculation. There is very often no real reason for the price increase as production can meet demand. Once again, politicians are powerless to act against this form of inhuman and voracious capitalism.
7-star versus diamond hotels

7-star versus diamond hotels

In several cities in the world, new 7-star hotels (yes indeed, already seven) are supposed to take luxury to yet a higher level. That is: material luxury based on silver, gold and even platinum. Or materialism to the top. But seven is not the top if we judge by the marketing logic of the modern economy. Well “modern”? It is becoming rather old-fashioned.
First or second fiddle

First or second fiddle

Why do some people play first fiddle? Why do some people play second fiddle? Do some have superior qualities? Do some have inferior qualities? Many first fiddles just have more power. More power because of more money. More power because of the right connections. More power because they are more assertive.
Fiscal paradises revisited

Fiscal paradises revisited

Our idea of paradise is quite different. It is not fiscal at all. We hope our messages will make you get the feel of what we consider to be more like paradise. Maybe the “inhabitants” of fiscal paradises will want to leave them as they come to value other things more than loads of money.
Political kindergarten

Political kindergarten

When looking at politics, it looks more like a kindergarten these days than as a forum where serious new ideas are discussed among adults. In the political kindergarten, real issues are overshadowed by bickering about who will be the next one to lead or about who will have the most power or material riches.
