Could Humanity imagine a world without light? Without colours. Without sounds. Could Humanity imagine a world without air? Without smells. Without tastes. Nature gives us so much. Yet, we mostly take it for granted. Nature gives us so much. Yet, she asks only little.
Human warmth is powerful. Human warmth is love. This world is often too cold. Human warmth can make it change. There is so much indifference now. Indifference to the suffering of Nature. Indifference to the suffering of others. Others that did not choose to be poor.
Before I leave this world, I would like to try and make it better. Especially for the children. This world is too complicated. There is too much violence. There is too little warmth. Money seems to drive everything. Everything has its value expressed in money. Even love and friendship are often measured with money in mind. Is civilization really that civilized when thousands of people are killed or maimed just to have more power or more money?
Some people feel they are nobody. Because they do not seem to fit. In a society that is too demanding. In a world that is too confusing. Are they themselves to blame? Not really or not always. Society has burdened them with role models and references that are more than often not worth it.
I’m drowning! Not in water. I’m drowning in an overdose of information. Every day I’m flooded with messages that want me to buy new products. Products that are said to be better and fantastic.
All over the world people are fighting and killing each other for political, economic and religious reasons. Why destroy lives? Why destroy Nature? Why destroy oneself? To defend an imperfect system? To gain more power or money? Or to gain more happiness?
We can all feel better in a better world. We are planning to make it better with your help. We owe it to all the children in this world! And do believe us. You can make a difference and make the world better for you too. We are partners and friends of Peace.
Money does not make you rich or worth more than the poor. True riches have nothing to do with money, but with the size of your heart. The more you care about others and Nature, the bigger it gets and the richer you are.
Dharshie Wissah from Kakamega in Kenya took this picture and won the 2019 CIWEM environmental photographer of the year prize (category: water, equality and sustainability). It is a shocking image for most people around the world. The picture shows a young boy drinking dirty water due to the lack of water points in the area caused by deforestation. Lack of clean water greatly increases the risk of diarrhoeal diseases such as cholera, typhoid fever and dysentery, and other water-borne tropical diseases.
Bio-fuels may be renewable. Yet, they imply combustion. Combustion means pollution. So, bio-fuels are unclean. They damage Nature. They damage people. Only clean fuels mean future.
Green energy from biomass? Burning biomass means pollution… Biomass often imported by ship from countries thousands of miles from here? Ships burn heavy fuel and so pollute as well… It would be better to invest in clean energy sources and not in energy that looks green, but is not.
Many countries are rich in oil. Yet, their population is mostly poor, except for a small – often corrupt – elite. Oil companies extract black gold, but lack the ethical standing to really help the poor. They also lack the standing to really care about Nature and to prevent pollution.
