Human anchor

Human values are like an anchor of life to hold on to. Whatever storm you have to weather.

Human values are like a beacon for the captains of our vessels: our countries, our businesses and our religions. A beacon to set sail to: the common good of Humanity in a world of Peace.

A world without war would mean a world with huge resources to invest in urgently needed projects like green energy (we owe it to Nature), the reduction of poverty (we owe it to Humanity) and the education of our children (giving them an anchor and/or a beacon of life).

Danellandia aims at promoting these values in the media and in the messages and letters it sends. And in two forums (one on economics and politics and one on religions) aimed at peace.

We do it all for the smile of a happy child wherever. For the smile of a happy world forever”. The children of this world (and the adults) deserve a better future. A future often promised by our leaders, but not materializing because of so many divisions and conflicts.

Why?

We hope you like this thought: “strengthening human values to strengthen peace”. We also hope you will like Danellandia. We will be spreading more of these thoughts as part of a campaign for peace and humanity.

Dad

Pedro, one of the founders of our peace initiative, wrote this letter that illustrates our vision about the world and peace or human values.

Quite a few people have called me Dad. You know why? As a child I was the oldest of a group of a dozen nieces and nephews. I had a good youth and I was like a big brother (a real big brother not the commercially exploited caricature of it on TV). They liked to be with me and came to me for a chat or to help them out for school or wherever they needed some advice.

Later in life, a lot of other people have confided in me. They say I have a fine listening ear and a soft comforting voice. I have come to defend people that were treated in an unjust way. They are grateful till today.

People talk to me about very personal matters. Also now, friends that I have met on the internet from many countries and that have different religions or cultures do so too.

We even talk about subjects like God and happiness, very secretive subjects normally. We found that we had a lot in common.

Letter to Mehmet

To illustrate how people deal with me, here I copy one of the many emails with a Muslim friend (I changed his name).

Dear Mehmet!

I hope you are doing fine. You ask me to describe you in only one word. One word is too little, but if I have to choose one it is: FASCINATING.

Maybe you will not understand why directly, but think about all the things that we talked about. Pause for a moment. Think and then you will understand why.

Yes, Mehmet you opened a new world to me. The world of a Muslim. The world of Islam. I had never really spoken about religion with a Muslim. You were the first. And talking about religion is not easy for most people.

You taught me about Mohammed and the Koran. I asked you a lot of questions indeed. You could not always answer, but you tried your very best. We looked for help from a scholar, but have not received answers yet. Maybe some questions are too difficult? (I am having the same with other religions). But I also learned things about your life, your family and your studies. You seem to be a fine young man (sorry this is a second description). I said to myself, Mehmet could have lived next door. Be my neighbour. We are not that much different. We both like to enjoy life. We like our family and friends. Travelling and reading and we want peace for everybody.

I cannot understand why there are so many conflicts in the world. It is often the result of not knowing each other or knowing wrong things about each other. Prejudices are a man’s – and woman’s – worst enemies, I would say.

So, let us hope that the world will start to see that soon. On a small scale, we are planning to do something about it. We will tell you later.

All the best and may Peace or God or Allah bring peace to this beautiful place called Earth! Why do we go and look for other planets like ours? There is still so much we can do and discover here. But first we need to clean up some of the misery and mess Humanity has created”.

ABOUT

Danellandia – Pax 21 was created on 28 March, 2004. It is based on discussions about this world and its many problems with people from different backgrounds, countries, religions and age.

Danellandia defined 25 human values as the basis for its campaign to make this world a better and more just place in many fields of human activities: politics, economics, the media, personal relationships, education, Nature care…

You can help to promote these values by sharing the material on this site.

Become a Danellandian by promoting human values to  boost peace.

This world needs people and leaders who put humanity first and not money or power. People and leaders who unite others rather than create tension, division and conflict.

Strong human values are a passport to a sustainable future.

The world of Peace can become a reality!
