Democracy

Democracy means the power of the people.
Many politicians call themselves democrats.
But are they really and can they truly be?

This world is largely run by economics.
Economics dominate and steer politics.
Everything and everyone is measured
in terms of money or financial values.

The power of money is so overwhelming
that it cannot be called democratic at all.
Economics cannot be called democratic either,
since they do not treat everyone fairly.

Politics should steer economics
and be guided by other values.
Money should be a means
and not an aim in itself as it is now.

Democracy should get another meaning:
the power of humanity or of human values.

Only politics and economics that
put humanity first and not money
are worth being called democratic.

Being democratic is being truly human.
