I cannot understand why so many people
hurt each other or ruin each others’ lives.

I cannot understand why so many politicians
keep on nagging about an economic system
that maintains sharp contrasts between rich and poor.

I cannot understand that some people
commit violence because they believe
in a particular version of God and not in another.

Am I normal when all this misery already
touched me when I was a child or teenager?
Am I normal when I now spend so much time
thinking and writing about peace?

The more I learn about peace,
the clearer it becomes that many people
lack something and are therefore incomplete.

Peace is like love and normally people have it in them.
But our society in all its forms:
political, social, economic, religious…
makes people feel confused.

They can no longer really experience peace and love.
How can they cherish peace and love?
How can they understand each other?

Peace and love are a universal language.
Normally, people can speak it fluently.
With just a few words they can say a lot.

It is a pity that our society pays less and less
attention to this magnificent language.
